My First PC: NEC 9619
In the spirit of Chris Pirillo’s Christmas in Iowa’s first computer video I found an image of my first PC, yes my first PC; not my first computer, but my first Personal Computer which I got around 1995. Good idea but it never got used at all and fell out of favor from most PC enthusiasts for a reason (not that it didn’t work, though).
The reason I’m sharing with you this is because there are a several interesting things about this box. One: it cost me several arms and legs and @166MHz and 8MB of RAM (tiny SIMM modules) it could not play all the

Chris Pirillo’s “Pillars of Community”
At LeWeb in Paris (December 2009) Chris Pirillo articulated some underlying principles for creating true (virtual) community. Matt Buckland [1] recorded Chris’ points in text form. Chris started by saying “I don’t have an agenda; I don’t have an announcement…” referring, of course, to the number of companies that had been making announcements on the stage. I’m m going to make some comments on them now.

FriendFeed Wish List Q1 2009
First, I’d like to fix what I’ll call the Chris Pirillo problem. Bear in mind that Chris is not the problem, but managing his feed is. Today I took the draconian step of creating an Imaginary Chris Pirillo channel and populating it with Chris’s blog, Flickr, and delicious outputs.
I saw Paul Buchheit at the Crunchies and took the opportunity to buttonhole the FriendFeed co-founder about the usual subjects: Track, track, and realtime search. Basically, track.

Liberting computing from the confines of the computer
8221; I totally agree with the idea of shared experiences being better experiences and can see so many interesting possibilities when designing instruction. Via Chris Pirillo .
Here’s an article from the NY Times this weekend called Reinventing Interaction . I’m not sure why it’s in the Fashion & Style section but anyway, it’s about designing interactive experiences “that can come in different physical forms and be shared with other people.”

Speeding Up the Computer at Start-Up
Chris Pirillo is offering a discount on WinPatrol this week . Chris is recommending this program as security protection from malware installing itself on the computer. It is a clever idea from the WinPatrol people - some additional speed for the computer as well as security. Do you feel that you are wasting a precious few minutes every time you start the computer? - For most people, there is a delay between powering up the computer and actually doing any work. You are waiting for all the start up programs to load.
