Twitter Event Suite Solves Planning Twubbles
Similar to Hashtags.org , Twubs is a Twitter aggregator that allows users to contribute on breaking news, popular trends, shared conferences and memes such as #followfriday and #musicmonday. Earlier today Twubs launched a free conference suite in the hopes that conference planners will take a cue from Gnomedex founder Chris Pirillo and incorporate back channels and live feeds into their events.
Twubs - it's not the mean-spirited nickname the kids called us in high school, nor is it the Miami Vice detective opposite Don Johnson. In addition to indexing basic tweets,

Malware on the New York Times Website
An illustration of how invalid that notion is can be found with the recent problems linked with The New York Times website:
“The Web’s most popular newspaper website got a little too close to the news this weekend, inadvertently serving some of its visitors a pop-up ad that masqueraded as a virus checker and urged users to download virus-like antivirus software.
link: NYTimes.com serves up malware ads with news (oops)
There was a myth online about internet security that some people still believe. That notion is that if someone online stays away from “bad’

Twitter overhyped?
It is impossible to watch the news anymore without hearing something about Twitter, the online micro blogging site that allows you to post tiny messages for people to see. I did what most people do after that, I started following news and information people such as Patrick Norton, of TechTV and now Revision3 fame, Chris Pirillo, and columnist John Dvorak. The problem with this, and I imagine While Twitter is nice to use from time to time to check up on friends or to get messages about upcoming events, I have not found it to be the incredible tool that those in the media claim it to be.

The Extent of the Malware Problem

Security Breach at Penn State
This alert for Penn State students comes at a time when most are not checking their university news. coda: Chris Pirillo presently has a discount on some excellent malware security software . It is the unwanted gift of malware. There is a security breach at Penn State that may have exposed sensitive, personal information:
“… Malware infections to University computers caused all of the breaches, which occurred in the Eberly College of Science (7,758 records), the College of Health and Human Development (6,827 records) and one of Penn State’s campuses

Social Media and the Echo Chamber
One might think that this would make Reddit a better place to go for news and interesting stories but it has a major problem. I recently saw a tweet from Chris Pirillo in which he claimed that 20,000 of his followers did not really count because they were all internet or social media experts. Social media and social news sites are great, but they are always in danger of being overrun by groups that will turn those sites into nothing more than With the rise of social media and social networking sites we have come to see some problems that the creators of the sites may not have been able to predict.
