Chris Pirillo’s “Pillars of Community”
At LeWeb in Paris (December 2009) Chris Pirillo articulated some underlying principles for creating true (virtual) community. Matt Buckland [1] recorded Chris’ points in text form. Chris started by saying “I don’t have an agenda; I don’t have an announcement…” referring, of course, to the number of companies that had been making announcements on the stage. I’m m going to make some comments on them now.

Twitter overhyped?
I did what most people do after that, I started following news and information people such as Patrick Norton, of TechTV and now Revision3 fame, Chris Pirillo, and columnist John Dvorak. The problem with this, and I imagine with following politicians and news organizations, is that Twitter only holds a certain amount of comments on a page and people tend to overload that page with messages at a rapid pace. It is impossible to watch the news anymore without hearing something about Twitter, the online micro blogging site that allows you to post tiny messages for people to see.

CalOptima Loses Unencrypted Data

Gnomedex Redux: The RWW Gang Roundtable
As always, many thanks to Chris Pirillo for organizing another fantastic, inspiring show.
On the third and final day of the ninth annual Gnomedex conference in Seattle, Washington, the tired but ever-ready members of the ReadWriteWeb gang convened to dish some dirt about the apps, hardware, speakers, and fellow attendees they'd seen over the weekend.
From a 3D printer churning out plastic copies of Darth Vader's head to the show's most geektastic game (hint: not Rock Band this time), Gnomedex left very little to be desired from our intrepid staff.
