8 Ways to Better Understand the Internet of Things
But with RFID, for example (which is one of the more mature IoT technologies), we've reported on how there have been enough challenges to limit predicted growth. The world's second Internet of Things Conference is scheduled to take place at the end of November in Tokyo. The deadline for papers was just extended to June 1 - which gave us an idea.

Viacom Seems To Be Misrepresenting YouTube Founder’s Call To “Steal It!”
We’ve come across a good example. We’re still going through these recently released YouTube/Viacom litigation documents , and it’s becoming clear that we can’t take everything that’s being said by either party at face value (as if we didn’t know that already). In Viacom’s document Statement of Undisputed Facts , it presented the following seemingly damning passage that indicates that YouTube co-founder Steve Chen was advocating pirating movies (a quote that’s now appearing in quite a few news articles).

The Oracle Effect: Sun's Best and Brightest Move On to New Places
Perhaps the clearest example is evident at Rackspace where five developers from Sun were recently hired to work on Drizzle, a heavy duty system for high scaling applications in the cloud:
What is the effect of the Oracle acquisition of Sun Microsystems on cloud computing? Well, there have been quite a few if you look at where Sun's best and brightest have moved on to in the past few months.

SharePoint Examples
I'd like to find good examples of what other people have done with SharePoint in their organization. Can you help me find those examples or connect me with people in training organizations who are making use of SharePoint? I'm trying to help someone inside training at a large organization bridge what I talk about around eLearning 2.0 to their implementation of SharePoint.

Capture Examples
The primary reasons for doing the eLearning Tour was that it is hard to see examples of what is being done by fellow eLearning professionals and get a sense of the patterns that exist. And while I believe that I gave a flavor of what's happening out there through the tour, my gut tells me that it would be helpful to capture more examples. So first question – after participating or viewing the videos for the event: Is it helpful to capture examples? As part of pulling together the tour, I asked for contributions from this blog and from Learn Trends. I received

Social Learning Examples
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about:
At DevLearn, many people lamented the difficulty of explaining the benefits of social media to their managers and peers. We talked about building a repository of web 2.0 learning applications.

Ten Useful Examples of the Real-Time Web in Action
Below are nine solid examples of real-time web technology that illustrate what it is and why it's important - and one possible future scenario that's important enough it has to be discussed as well.
If all webpages were PubSubHubbub enabled, for example, they could simply tell a Hub about any changes they had published and Google could find out via that Hub. The Real-Time Web - it's more than just immediate delivery of Twitter messages to an always-on mobile device, disrupting the concentration that civilization is based on and bringing a rush to crazed social media addicts obsessed with the hottest new buzzwords.

NSFW: After Fort Hood, another example of how ‘citizen journalists’ can’t handle the truth
Smug that after two weeks of me suggesting that social media might not be an unequivocally Good Thing in terms of privacy and human decency , the news has delivered the perfect example to support my view.
In the actions of Tearah Moore at Fort Hood, we have the perfect example of both kinds of selfishness.
I’d probably feel slightly smug, if I didn’t feel so sick.
Unfortunately it’s hard to feel smug – hard to feel anything but sadness and nausea – when thirteen innocent people are dead.

Social Media ROI: Dell's $3m on Twitter and Four Better Examples
Dell Computers announced last night that it has surpassed $3 million in sales via links from one of its Twitter accounts, making one of the most high profile examples of social media Return on Investment (ROI) all the more juicy.
Other, more conversational, examples of ROI make important additions to conversations about Dell and social media. An example of informal learning from Europe
Three years ago I talked with a former KPPG consultant, Harm Wegstra, at Online Educa Berlin. Harm told me about his team’s experience with informal learning in an engagement with Sara Lee. Here’s an extract of an email Harm sent me.
