August Capital Bets Big On Blippy
August Capital partner David Hornik is leading the round. Read the comments on any of our Blippy posts to see examples of that indignation.
Blippy is always fun to write about because so many people are enraged by its very existence. But all that rage apparently hasn’t stopped the company from getting lots of investor attention.

The Best Business Model in the World
In our previous lives running businesses, my partners and I have seen and experienced one business model that we love the best, based on fundamental cash flow and the ability to grow that cash flow as the business scales.
Think about examples such as royalties from content; franchise fees from multi-unit branded chains; subscription revenues from software applications, licensing fees from brands, and licensing fees from technology or patents.
The One of the "golden rules" of investing we have at our firm, Cue Ball, is that we value the business model over the financial plan.

HTC Responds to Apple's Patent Lawsuit, Rejects Accusations
recognized as an innovator by our carrier partners." He did not, however, give any specifics as to what that might entail (for example, a countersuit). Many have speculated that the two lawsuits Apple filed against HTC were merely a thinly veiled attack on Google , who designed the software on HTC's phones. But HTC is quick to remind us that despite their recent surge in popularity (and subsequent placement on our Most Innovative Companies list), they're by no means new to the game.

Is It Time To Switch Ad Partners?
But I’m nervous about our ad partner Federated Media , which supplies about a third of our total revenue. An example - an advertiser comes to us with, say, a $100,000 spend. I don’t make any advertising or revenue decisions around here, that’s left to our CEO Heather Harde . They’re going through layoffs (I read this on their blog ), and payments from them have dipped substantially in recent months (which isn’t a surprise given market conditions).

Practice Fusion Partners With Salesforce - But Is Cloud Computing Suitable For Healthcare?
How is its own health and what are the implications of partnering with salesforce.com?
We noted the recent hacking of Google Docs to steal internal Twitter documents, as one recent high profile example (high profile because the stolen documents were subsequently emailed to some news outlets, some of whom published the 'hot' docs).
One year ago we reviewed a new health app called Practice Fusion , a free, web-based EMR (electronic medical record) system for physicians. This week Practice Fusion announced an investment, amount not disclosed, by salesforce.com.

Outright.com Leaves Beta, Adds New Partners To Streamline Small Business Accounting
