Uh Oh. Not Another “Don’t Be Evil” Company
Long ago Google unofficially abandoned the Don’t Be Evil mantra and replaced it with, no kidding, an “evil scale.” What I’d like best is if Twitter just focuses on keeping the lights on, and adds competitive features that keep Google, Facebook and others on their toes. Tags: Uncategorized google Twitte 8221; Sometimes you have to chose between the lesser of two weevils, as Patrick O’Brian would say . And frankly, just staying this side of decent is enough for most companies.

Google Predicts Mobile Ad Rates Will Top PC Ad Rates, Will Make Bank Either Way
In a briefing, Google Engineering Vice President Vic Gundotra sounded off on the importance of mobile to Google's future success, saying "Google has bet big on mobile." And when Google bets big, you can bet advertisements are somehow involved. But mobile ad rates are skyrocketing, thanks to dramatically increased popularity and capability of mobile devices: Apple 's iPhone, Ad rates for mobiles are still far less per click than on a full PC, and the total revenues of these different ad streams backs that up ( check out our infographic for an overview of ad revenues ).

The Twitter Gold Mine & Beating Google to the Semantic Web
Twitter, potentially, has the ability to deliver unbelievably smart advertising; advertising that I actually want to see , and they have the ability to deliver search results far superior and more accurate to Google, putting Twitter in the running to beat Google in the latent quest to the semantic web. Tags: advertising google twitter web2 There's always been jabs at Twitter for not having a viable business model and the chatter has increased in the current economic climate. Google Buzz re-invents Gmail
When I first heard about Google Buzz, I was worried that I might be seeing the birth of another "me too" product. But with the release of Buzz today, you can see how Google has taken the social media lessons of Twitter and applied them to their own core products.
I'm Google has also done a neat hack on the Twitter @name syntax, allowing you to prefix @ to an email address to have a message show up for sure in that user's Gmail Inbox. After all, everyone wants a piece of the Twitter halo. I'm especially fond of Gmail Buzz, which adds the power of asymmetric following

Make Google Real-Time With Twitter Search Add-on
Some people say that "the real-time web" could be the next generation of post-Google search . Google backers say that Google is already capable of indexing anything online mere moments after it's been published - but the user experience in search doesn't really feel "real-time" right now. Movable Type consultant Mark Carey came up with a simple solution this weekend that could change your use of Google more than anything else has in a while.
Social media tools have greatly increased not just the number of people posting content online but also the speed with which they are able to do so.

Google Launches Internet Stat Center
Without any fanfare, Google has launched a new resource called " Google Internet Stats " which brings together industry facts and insights from across five different industries. Of course, because it's Google, this resource is a search tool. While the stat center is an excellent new resource, there is one odd thing about it - it's hosted on the google.co.uk

Google Engineering Explains Microformat Support in Searches
Today, Google is releasing support for parsing and display of microformat data in their search results. While the initial launch will be limited to a specific set of partners (including LinkedIn, Yelp and CNet reviews), the intent is that very quickly, anyone who marks their pages up with the appropriate microformat data will be able to make their information understandable by Google. We talked this morning with Othar Hansson and RV Guha, two of the Google engineers responsible This technology would allow you to explicitly search, for example, for only printers that had an average customer review of 3 stars or higher.
